Ok, so I really don’t know why I get so offended by this Sitecore behaviour, but I do. Why is it I cannot right click on an item and publish it? So here is a simple way of achieving this.
In the core database copy:
/sitecore/content/Applications/Content Editor/Menues/Publish/Publish Item
To here:
/sitecore/content/Applications/Content Editor/Context Menues/Default
Job Done 😀
PS: Please note, sure these tips aren’t rocket science, but if it helps 1 person once, my work here is done 😀

Good tip!
I create the “Browse item” module for the same reason.
Right click an item -> Browse, to open its page in a new tab… (if it has a layout specified)
Can’t understand why that has never been implemented out of the box.
Yeah – I am hoping Sitecore are opting for a refresh of the content editor at some point with the advent of speak 😀 ( maybe if we are lucky they will sort out the tree too 😉 )
Make sure to attend the Sitecore Symposium in Barcelona!
You will see some Sitecore 8 content-editor-in-speak magic there 🙂
I am thoroughly looking forward to it 😀
Does this respect Sitecore security? In other words, if the user isn’t allowed to publish the item they right-click on, will Publish Item be greyed out?
I believe so, its a duplicate of a sitecore item, but I have tested it in our system and it does respect it (SC 7.2)
